About Gretchen Gary

Hello. Welcome to GretchenGary.com.

Originally from Los Angeles, California, I have worked in marketing for the majority of my career.

After receiving my bachelor's degree in Modern Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz, I joined Primedia as an assistant editor with a business publication based in Malibu, California. Shortly after, I shifted my career into creative marketing and public relations.

I have since served as the staff writer for two Los Angeles-based non-profit organizations (Haven Hills and the California Wildlife Center) and was a contributing writer for LuxuryLink.com for more than four years. In my last Los Angeles-based position, I was a direct marketing specialist for a B2B firm serving the appraisal industry.

I left Los Angeles in January 2006 and took a year off to travel around the world. My travels took me through the Caribbean, Central America, the South Pacific, Asia and Europe. At the end of that year, I was offered a position as marketing manager with a condo developer in Costa Rica, where I lived and worked for 2 years. I then spent most of 2009 exploring the Spanish-speaking countries of South America.

After nearly 4 years abroad, I am now living in San Diego. To expand on my experience, I enrolled in the International MBA program at USD in August 2010. I will finish the degree in December 2011 with an emphasis in New Venture and Marketing. In the meantime this summer, I am currently doing an MBA marketing internship with Hewlett Packard, learning more about product development and international marketing strategy.

I speak Spanish and am fascinated with international business relations. In my free time, I enjoy San Diego's beautiful beaches and volunteer with the San Diego Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation.
