About Gretchen Gary

Hello. I'm Gretchen Gary. Professional, well-traveled, and fun.

Originally from Los Angeles, California, I have worked in public relations and marketing for the past nine years.

I graduated in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in Modern Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. After graduation, I completed a French language program in Paris, France before moving back to Los Angeles to launch my career.

In March 2000, I was hired as an assistant editor with a Primedia business publication, and was immediately drawn to creative marketing. With the support of my supervisors, I began a certificate program in graphic design and started shifting my focus from journalism to public relations and copywriting.

I have since served as the staff writer for two Los Angeles-based non-profit organizations (Haven Hills and the California Wildlife Center) and was a contributing writer for LuxuryLink.com for more than four years. In my last Los Angeles-based position, I was a direct marketing specialist for a B2B firm serving the appraisal industry.

I left Los Angeles in January 2006 and took a sabbatical year to travel around the world. My travels took me through the Caribbean, Central America, the South Pacific, Asia and Europe. At the end of that first year, I was offered a position as marketing manager with a condo developer in Costa Rica, where I lived and worked for 2 years. I spent the majority of 2009 in South America before returning to the states.

After nearly 4 years abroad, I am now living in North County San Diego and working as a marketing consultant while I search for the right opportunity with a San Diego-based company.
