Linking to Partner Sites Improves Search Engine Visibility

Having links to your site on other websites is like search engine publicity.

Not only does it increase your exposure, but it also improves your perceived importance as determined by search engine algorithms.

Obviously, the more sites that link to yours, the more direct traffic you'll get. However, it is the indirect value of those links that brings more benefits. Search engines tend to see links to your site as a sign of site importance, which improves your site reputation and ranking. That means better placement in organic search listings!

The better your site content is, the easier it will be to get links. Sometimes, you'll get links without even knowing it from others who see your site as a valuable source of information. You can also partner up with other related sites, exchanging and posting each other's links.

Try to get links on other sites related to your industry, and pay attention to the ranking of those sites. A link from a highly ranked site is great for your PageRank publicity. You can see a website's ranking by installing the Google Toolbar. MSN also offers a tool bar with a page ranking feature.

The larger your network of back links, the more established your site will be on the Web. But be careful who you pay to link to you – avoid link farms and Free For Alls (FFAs), and if possible, anchor your link in text that uses your main keywords.
